10 Lessons My 30s Taught Me the Hard Way

My 30s were filled with so many highs and lows, from marriage to divorce to professional success (and struggles), over a decade of sobriety, relationships lost, relationships formed, real love, some loss and everything in between! I could’ve gone for 30 lessons here but narrowed them down to these that really hit me hard.

1. You meet the version of yourself who can handle the fear the moment you face it.

2. The goal in life isn’t constant happiness–it’s peace with moments of joy. PS joyfulness = youthfulness

3. The only opinions that matter come from people who truly know you. To outsiders you’re a mirror–people judge you through their own insecurities.

4. Love can be real and still not be right. And the right love feels like peace.

5. Sometimes your body knows before your brain. Ignore it long enough and it will scream. To that point, you can’t stay in turmoil too long before it manifests physically.

6. Your peace might cost you things you thought you couldn’t live without.

7. Feelings peak in 90 seconds…let them pass instead of attaching or worse, identifying yourself as them (ie I am anxious). We create out reality. If you’re constantly uncomfortable, do more for others and think of them instead of yourself.

8. The right skincare changes everything and can do more than you think.

9. The life you envy online is almost always quieter, messier, and lonely than it looks.

10. Food before caffeine ALWAYS! Except on vacation. Anything goes on vacation.

I’d love to hear your biggest takeaways, too! 🤍
