Why I Stopped Chasing “Perfect Skin”

My skin used to be dehydrated, sensitive, and acne-prone—cystic acne included in 2022. At the time, I was doing Botox, filler, and relying exclusively on “medical-grade” skincare. But in 2022/23, I shifted my approach completely. What follows is what actually keeps my skin clear, calm, and healthy today!

Skincare First

Always! This is the foundation of everything. The right daily routine completely changed my skin’s texture, bounce, tone, and overall resilience. What you do 99% of the time matters far more than occasional treatments—at least in my honest opinion and experience.

Sun Protection

Former tan-aholic here! And I learned the hard way. I protect my face religiously now, and yes—it makes a massive difference.

Red Light Therapy

About 10 minutes most days, habit-stacked with my morning meditation. It helps with fine lines and pigmentation, but consistency is key—and specs matter. Let me know if you want to know what to look for!

Face Tape

With or without Botox, this is non-negotiable for me a few nights a week. As someone who raises their brows in their sleep, taping my forehead (and chest) makes a huge difference. I wake up line-free.

Silk Pillowcase & Eye Mask

I’m a side sleeper, and this helps prevent sleep lines that can compound over time.

Facials & Massage

Not as often as I’d like, but very effective. I extend the results with gentle at-home exfoliation—happy to share my favorites if you want!

Lasers

IPL and Fraxel helped address old sun damage. These are powerful tools in the right hands, but they’re useless without solid skincare and consistent SPF.

Procedure & Injectables

I’ve done them in the past and I’m always transparent about it—but they don’t equal skin health. People argue with me about this all the time, but any expert will tell you: you have to take care of your skin first. Botox (which I had to stop) did help prevent static lines, but there are other powerful, effective tools available.

Lifestyle

Sleep, hydration, movement, sobriety (almost 12 years), and—most importantly—actually enjoying life!

Healthy skin isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing the right things consistently!
