Zapping My Sun Damage with Fraxel

I recently did Fraxel, and I’ve been getting SO many questions, so I’m breaking it all down for you here. I’ve been going to Dr. Dan Behroozan for over ten years. When it comes to anything on my face, he’s my go-to.

The last time I went to see him, we only did the 1927 component. I didn’t have a crazy amount of damage, and I had a life to get back to, so the goal was effective treatment with about a week of downtime. That’s the sweet spot for me.

What does it feel like?

Genuinely not that bad, you guys. There’s some heat involved, but I wouldn’t call it painful. Right after, it feels like you got a little too much sun (that tight, warm, slightly tender feeling). Around days 2-3, the peeling and flaking kick in and last a few days. Full healing of the face usually takes around 7 days. The neck and chest take a little longer, just FYI, so plan accordingly.

Now for the real talk:

Lasers will not save a lazy routine. If you’re not doing the basics (good skincare, SPF every day, consistently) start there before you spend money on any treatment. Build the foundation first. Then build on top of it. I linked some of my skincare favorites below!

And please, please, please be picky about who you go to. I cannot say this loudly enough. Your results are only as good as your provider. Find someone who is genuinely experienced, qualified, and will actually look at your skin and tell you what you need, not just what’s on the menu. Lasers are not universal, and not everyone needs the same thing. A good derm will tell you that.
